Dunbar Cemetery

This cemetery is located 0.5 mile east of the intersection of 42nd & 'J' Roads, on the north side of the road. The cemetery is very well maintained.

"Outside of Dunbar, one mile south and one half west, is the cemetery used by the Dunbar community. A meeting was held on December 24th at the home of Robert Johnson to form a corporation to establish  a place to bury the dead. It was called the Delaware Cemetery Association. One acre was bought for twenty dollars from Isaac Schofield and later in 1896 another acre was bought from P.T. Gray for ninety dollars. The earliest marked grave was that of Edith Nelson (child) in 1884. The cemetery is being well kept up and is still being used." (1)
